ASA, the South African Advertising Standards Authority banned a TV commercial for a ringtone with Jeff Dunham's puppet Achmed the Dead Terrorist. ASA's decision comes after a complaint filed by Moegamat Khan, a citizen who is concerned that this ad brings the impression that all Muslims are terrorists and is offensive to the Islamic religion. "To associate this divine inspiration to a terrorist is offensive to the people who believe in him [Muhammad]"  the ASA said.

The complaint was filed against GloMobile, which was obligated to withdraw the commercial, which made Jeff Dunham angry because the ventriloquist belives that comedy is the last true form of free speech.

But the comedian is still a comedian and released a statement that shows not only his great sense of humor, but also a higher understanding than that of the "religious beliefs": "Achmed makes it clear in my act that he is not Muslim [...]..If it would help things, I'm considering renaming Achmed, 'Bill'", he said.
